Through the BayREN Refrigerant Replacement Program (BRRR), qualifying businesses can improve equipment performance, reduce environmental impacts, and transition to eco-friendly refrigerants while lowering upgrade costs.

The BayREN Refrigerant Replacement (BRRR) Program helps Bay Area food and floral businesses reduce greenhouse gas emissions by swapping out harmful refrigerants for more environmentally-friendly alternatives. Additionally, the program installs energy efficient equipment that will help lower utility bills — all at little to no cost to businesses.

No. There are no obligations to move forward after receiving your evaluation.
It depends on the specifics of your project. BRRR incentives are capped at $30,000 per project. Any amount exceeding the incentive cap becomes the responsibility of the business.
Yes. You can use your own contractor if they collaborate with program staff, submit licensing and insurance information, and attend orientation training.
BRRR is funded by the Public Purpose Program, a fee included on monthly utility bills.
Project installation time depends on project scope and contractor availability.
