Business Retention & Expansion

BUSINESS RETENTION & EXPANSION

Our BRE and BAYREN programs work to support businesses of every type and size in all seven cities and the unincorporated areas of the county. Led by our Vice President J. Paul Harrington, this team makes a significant contribution to the success and wellbeing of our business community.

Solano EDC appointed a Business Retention & Expansion Manager to lead the program, ensuring continuous communication with businesses to provide tailored resources. This initiative was developed from a study funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to strengthen support for existing businesses and drive economic growth.

Solano EDC actively promotes the Solano Biz-Grow revolving loan fund, designed to support small businesses affected by COVID-19. This program provides accessible capital with flexible terms, and has already distributed $2 million across 60 approved applications, helping businesses in childcare, retail, food service, and more.

In collaboration with BayREN, Solano EDC helps businesses access energy-efficient appliances at no cost. As of Q3 2024, 105 businesses have qualified, with 65 projects installed, saving a total of $265,000 annually in energy costs.

Through our partnership with the Workforce Development Board of Solano County, we connect businesses to specialized training programs and workforce resources that align talent development with business needs, ensuring sustained economic growth.

Solano EDC collaborates with city economic development teams & chambers of commerce through joint business visits, monthly meetings, and task forces to ensure businesses receive the coordinated support they need.

Solano EDC hosts strategic events and economic forums, including partnerships with the California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA), providing businesses with access to advocacy, networking, and growth resources.

Our BRE program continues to expand, ensuring businesses across Solano County receive the guidance and resources they need to thrive.
