Finding the right employees is a time-consuming challenge faced by employers. The Workforce Development Board of Solano County (WDB) has the connections and resources that will help you in your search for qualified candidates. The Solano WDB is the lead agency in an integrated service delivery system—the Solano Employment Connection (SEC)—that helps businesses meet their workforce needs.
The SEC is a consortium of local agencies, educational institutions, and community-based organizations that provide Solano County businesses access to a variety of services at no cost.

Solano College Office of Contract Education will design and deliver customized training for your employees. The college posts job announcements free of charge and hosts career and internship fairs. With financial support from the SCC Foundation, a business expo was held for the first time in 2015 with support of 10 chambers of commerce.

UC Davis

UC Davis Extension can customize courses to the needs of your organization. Their areas of expertise include: business and management, conflict resolution, public communications and community engagement, driver safety training, occupational health and safety, human services, international programs, land use and natural resources. The career center provides access to over 30,000 students. Jobs can be posted online, and the university will provide on-campus interview space. Average attendance at career fairs is around 1,900.

Berkeley Extension Corporate and Professional Programs offers custom and open enrollment courses for employees. Offerings include sales development principles, emotional intelligence, and team facilitation skills. The Career Center encourages on-campus recruiting.

Solano County Office of Education

Besides providing students with a quality education, the Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) participates in the county workforce development efforts through these programs.
The California Promise Initiative, CaPROMISE, is intended to improve the education and employment outcomes of children receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) by helping students (age 14-16) graduate from high school ready for college or a career, complete postsecondary education or job training, and obtain employment. A wide variety of support and counseling is provided to students and their families.
The Transition Partnership Program (TTP) provides employment preparation, job development and placement services to eligible students and adults in Solano County. SCOE staff works closely with students to ensure career goals are met.
SCOE’s WorkAbility program provides comprehensive pre-employment worksite training, employment, and support services for high school and post-secondary students in special education who are making the transition from school to work.
