Quarterly Update: Census 2020
January 21 2020Solano EDC has partnered with Solano County and the California Census to provide countywide education and outreach about the benefits of participating in the 2020 Census. We are also part of a regional initiative called Bay Area Counts 2020, led by the United Way Bay Area (UWBA), that is bringing together a vast network of partners to ensure every person in the Bay Area is counted in the 2020 Census, because each person counted means more dollars for our county and region to provide the vital services our residents expect. We have also individually formed a Solano Complete Count Committee comprised of nonprofit, government and business leaders in our area who serve historically hard to count populations.
If you own or run a business or nonprofit in Solano County, you can help ensure a complete count of residents in a variety of ways. For example:
- Sharing information about the census in your employee newsletter or other internal communications;
- Hosting a lunch and learn on why the census matters;
- Offering an hour off of work for employees to complete the census;
- Providing a designated space at your place of business for employees to fill out the census.
We’ll be sharing more information about the census, including places to take the census, and upcoming educational events in Solano County, as April draws closer. To stay informed, please visit SolanoCensus2020.com, or look for the Census ’20 heading on the home page of SolanoEDC.org. There, you will find FAQs, social media handles you can follow for updates, and additional ways to help us ensure all Solano County residents are represented.
