FAIRFIELD — The city will contribute $45,600 toward the Moving Solano Forward economic development strategy.

Fairfield City Council members approved the contribution Tuesday.

The strategy for the region was introduced at a March meeting of the Solano Economic Development Corp. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fairfield.

Fiscal year funding from cities in the county is based on population.

“The Economic Development Corporation will meet regularly with the city to ensure the EDC is aware of the economic development priorities of the city, is marketing the key sites, buildings and areas,” the agreement states, “and is capturing possible stories for social and earned media.”

Other efforts include attending trade events and conferences promoting Fairfield and Solano County.

The strategy seeks to create new jobs and attract investment to boost the $19.6 billion economy in the county. The project includes a corridor strategy that recognizes the importance of Interstate 80.
