BENICIA >> The city of Benicia announced that the Economic Development Board, along with city staff including City Manager Lorie Tinfow and Mayor Elizabeth Patterson, will initiate the first Business Walk on Thursday.
A Business Walk is a dedicated effort to learning more about the local businesses through face-to-face interviews in the various commercial and industrial centers throughout Benicia. Local civic and business leaders visit each business with the goal of gathering the information necessary to assist the business community and strengthen good working relationships in the city, Economic Development Manager Mario Giuliani said.
To kick off the Business Walk, the Economic Development Board will convene at City Hall at 10 a.m. on Thursday, then pair off in teams of two to walk Solano Square, Davies Square and First Street.
“Business Walks are a powerful tool in our business retention effort. It allows us to build stronger relationships with individual business owners and managers and it gives those owners and managers an easier way to communicate their comments and concerns with civic leaders,” said Lorie Tinfow, Benicia’s city manager.
The Economic Development Board plans to conduct Business Walks on a quarterly basis.
The next one will occur in December and focus on the Southampton and Columbus Parkway Commercial Centers.
